Mizoram Polytechnic, Lunglei is administered by the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education and is funded by the State Government.

The Institution is to offer All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) approved technician – level diploma programmes in engineering and technology to candidates selected according to norms prescribed by the state government, using curricula and evaluation systems approved by the Mizoram State Council for Technical Education.

The polytechnic is permitted to offer need-based continuing education programmes/courses to the community under the World Bank Assisted Third Technician Education Project (WBAP).

The polytechnic is also permitted to offer skill-training/upgradation courses and organize technology transfer programmes for the rural community under the Community Polytechnic Scheme sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

The institution has the responsibility to produce employable technicians, entrepreneurs and also to uplift the community through technology transfer and training.
